2021-22 School Calendar Approved

February 10, 2021

Dear Families,

On Monday, February 8, 2021, the Indiana Area School District Board of Directors approved the 2021-22 School Calendar. On behalf of the District, I am excited to announce that we made some changes that are designed to provide our families with more flexibility and increased opportunities to engage with our incredible staff, teachers, and administrators. Click here to access the 2021-22 School Calendar. The calendar is also available on the District website under the “Students/Parents” tab for your convenience. (Please note this calendar is subject to change.)  See below for some of the calendar highlights.

  • Back to School Nights will occur during the first two weeks of school. We decided to break these events over the course of two weeks in consideration of those families who may have children in multiple schools. These scheduled nights/events will occur from 6-8 p.m. on the dates listed below.
    • September 1 - East Pike and Ben Franklin
    • September 2 - Eisenhower and Horace Mann
    • September 8 - Junior High
    • September 9 - Senior High

  • Academic Parent-Teacher Teams/Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on October 11 and February 7. (The date in February might change.) What are Academic Parent-Teacher Teams?  Academic Parent-Teacher Teams (APTT) is a model of family engagement that is grounded in the notion that schools can thrive when families and teachers work together, as genuine partners, to maximize student learning inside and outside of school. The model is research-based and aligns grade-level learning concepts, student performance data, and family-teacher communication and collaboration. The APTT model supplements and elevates the efforts of traditional parent conferences by expanding opportunities for families and teachers to collaborate. The format creates a systematic pathway for teachers to share grade-level information, tools, and strategies that families can apply at home and in the community to accelerate student learning

  • Parent Engagement Nights will be held throughout the school year. Each session is approximately 2 hours in length. These scheduled events will be designed by each individual building to meet the needs of students and families.  For example, one school may want to have a night dedicated to literacy instruction and the District’s programming.  Another school may dedicate the evening to making families aware of the various supports available to their child through our multi-tiered systems of supports (MTSS).  The goal is to try to connect with families on multiple occasions in the evening to better suit their schedules and to create awareness of the District’s programming, initiatives, and systems of support.

In closing, we are extremely grateful and fortunate to have your family as a part of our District.  More information will be forthcoming over the coming weeks and months regarding the various planned activities and events. For now, we simply wanted to make you aware of the calendar for your planning purposes.

Respectfully,

Mr. Michael J. Vuckovich

Superintendent of Schools
