Student-athletes from the Indiana Boys and Girls Lacrosse programs traveled to Eisenhower Elementary School to partner with Rachel Horrell’s Physical Education classes for an engaging afternoon focused on the sport of lacrosse.
During the visit, high school players introduced elementary students to the game of lacrosse, shared information about the lacrosse opportunities available at Indiana, and led students through a fun mini clinic featuring the fundamentals of scoop, cradle, and pass. The elementary students enthusiastically participated while learning new skills and asking questions about the sport.
The afternoon concluded with an opportunity to shoot on the varsity lacrosse goalie.
Most importantly, the event created meaningful connections between the high school athletes and younger students in the community. The high school players served as positive role models while encouraging the elementary students to have confidence in trying something new.
